SmartPLS & SPSS Data Analytics Tool

Writer: Influencer StudyInfluencer Study

Over the course of the weekend, I've had the opportunity to attend a course by Prof T. Ramayah (USM) on using SmartPLS to execute a PLS-SEM data analysis for your research. The course provided insights to using SmartPLS to perform significance testing on your research data.

We learned a lot about the importance of understanding statistical tools and why we would use it, and the importance of justifying your choices as part of your research methodology. Learning about how to construct your model using SmartPLS and running the calculations on those models makes you more aware of what needs to be addressed in a significance testing exercise.

I'm definitely going to revisit SmartPLS for any quantitative data analysis and PLS-SEM is definitely a good way to go in analysing the significance of your data.

Some key take aways from this course that I definitely need to revisit and consider:

- Using SmartPLS for multivariate studies

- Justifying analytical tools used and referring to recommended journals for the values they used

- Constructing the model using SmartPLS and running the numbers from there

- Exporting the results and formatting for article write ups using the tools provided

- Learning and exploring more about statistics and understanding why things are done and why you would use the software thats available like SPSS, Amos, SmartPLS, and others.
